Ursula Westelaken – Uschi –
Potter, Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Friend
Making pottery has been a part of my life, on and off, for 37 years.
After moving to Sarnia to work at Esso in 1980 as a young engineer, I sought out clay to experience my “creative” side.
I have always come back to clay for respite in a busy life.
Clay comes from nature and so nature has become my inspiration, time and time again.
Tree bark, sunflowers, blue sky, yellow daffodils and nature’s free form shapes have been my most recent explorations.
I enjoy making functional pottery with shape and colours that feel good and make me happy.
Bark bowls, sunflower vessels, birth baths and of course mugs.
I am open to new and interesting challenges as I now have more time to pursue my passion.
