Adelle TaylorAdelle Rae Taylor is thrilled to return to her roots in Bright’s Grove after spending 17 years in Toronto. During her time in the city, she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at OCAD University and featured her creations in numerous galleries and exhibitions, including The Toronto Artist Project. The natural splendor of Bright's Grove—from the majesty of Lake Huron's sunrises and sunsets to its towering, timeworn trees—has always served as a profound source of artistic inspiration.
Artist/Exhibit Statement My art explores the emotional power of color as a universal language and the profound connections between nature and the human condition. My paintings reflect my personal connection to the world, capturing the nostalgia and emotions sparked by nature’s hues—the sky before a storm, the first light of dawn, and fleeting moments of both joy and melancholy. My drawings delve into the textures of nature, like tree rings on a stump, symbolizing the passage of time and resilience in our lives. Subconsciously, both mediums reflect my current state of being, including the transformative journey of becoming a mother, infusing my work with new layers of depth and meaning. |

Joan Bennett RossBorn in Sarnia, Joan first left to attend University of Guelph and then Queen's in Kingston, Ontario. After doing her Internship in medicine at Dalhousie, she completed a Fellowship in General Surgery in 1994 and has practiced surgery in Sarnia for 30 years.
At age 18, however, her skill and love of pencil drawing actually forced her to choose between entering a program in Anatomical Illustration at Ontario College of Art or applying to medical school. She was accepted in both programs but chose medicine. Despite having a very busy career and raising two children, was also able to continue an involvement with art. Joan has had a previous show at Gallery in the Grove highlighting her medical anatomical drawings. As well, her son, Sean Ross, received one of Gallery in the Grove's art scholarships to McMaster Art School and is a practising independent artist! Joan is retiring from medicine in the very near future and will no doubt commit to being a larger part of the art community in Sarnia! Artist/Exhibit Statement The influence of nature and plein air work is evident in Joan's paintings. She is always near water - living on Lake Huron - and as a regular summer vacation loves Killarney Provincial Park in Ontario's North Channel. At Widgawa Lodge she always requests to stay in Cabin # 9, formerly enjoyed by famous Group of Seven member, AJ Casson. Joan works in oil, water and acrylic and has continued to study in long and short workshops and online courses. |
